Pikked GW12: Don't Forget to Pikk
Updated: Jan 7
Dear Pikked players, Wasn't game week 11 a blast? Tottenham Hotspurs look like they can push for the title this year under their charismatic manager Jose Mourinho. Harry Kane and Son Heung- Min have combined a remarkable 11 times already this season. The deadly duo looks unplayable at times and if the two of them can keep fit then Tottenham certainly have a chance. The pair combined twice against their nemesis Arsenal, who have not been firing in front of goal this season. Arsenal were brushed aside without too much effort, their clash against Burnley on Sunday holds high importance to save the Gunners season. Liverpool's injury list appears to be lengthening by the week. The Redmen fielded youngsters Neco Williams and Curtis Jones who slotted into the team without looking out of place. Mohammad Salah continues his rich vein of form scoring and assisting. Liverpool ended up triumphing 4-0 without breaking stride. Scary to think the team they will become when their best players return from injury. Manchester United enjoy being inconsistent. They continued this way against West Ham. A woeful first-half performance without Marcus Rashford and Bruno Fernandes could've seen the Red Devils 4-0 down at the half time. It stayed 1-0 to West Ham when the half time whistle blew. Ole Gunnar Solksjaer brought on Fernandes and Rashford, the side became invigorated. They hit gear five in a matter of minutes where Paul Pogba rifled a strike into the top corner past Lukas Fabianski. Mason Greenwood joined the party by slotting a left-footed strike into the bottom corner. Marcus Rashford finished the smash and grab performance by chipping the ball over Fabianski after a stunning through ball was delivered from Juan Mata. Manchester United were lucky to get a win in London, Manchester City is going to be a different beast to beat this weekend.
Leeds to beat West Ham This could be a risky pick. West Ham have been impressive at times under David Moyes. Jared Bowen looks a handful on the right flank, Rice holds the fort in the midfield and Benrahma could be a top signing once he gets grips with the Premier League. Nevertheless, Leeds continue to impress us at Pikked HQ. Patrick Bamford is averaging a Premier League goal every 118 minutes and Kalvin Phillips quarter-back style play in midfield is enticing the top teams in the league. Leeds are great to watch under Bielsa and we fancy they will continue their good form against the Hammers this weekend.
Aston Villa to beat Wolves Aston Villa's season has been successful thus far. Their last game against West Ham resulted in a loss, nevertheless, without a questionable VAR call and missed penalty Villa should have come away with all three points. Villa's game against Newcastle was postponed last week due to COVID 19 and they should benefit from the rest. Wolves on the other hand look tired. Their backlog of fixtures in the Europa League and a thinner squad than last season looks to be taking it's toll. Wolves were battered by Liverpool and without injured Raul Jimenez, Wolves don't look like scoring. Liverpool to beat Fulham Probably the easiest result to call this weekend. Fulham has conceded the second-most goals in the league and Liverpool cannot stop scoring. Mo Salah will be licking his lips looking at this fixture. It's inevitable, Liverpool will win this one!
