Pikked GW16: The Predictions
Updated: Jan 7
Dear Pikked players, Game week 15 was full of slips and surprises. Most notably, Arsenal finally won. They dismantled Chelsea with ease. The 200million Frank spent in the summer looks wasted as their German stars Havertz and Werner look out of their depths in the Premier League. Liverpool were shocked by a resilient West Brom performance. Love him or hate him, Sam Allerdyce knows how to grind out results in the Premier League. The west-midlands side parked every vehicle imaginable along their backline to thwart every Liverpool effort. Ajayi scored late on to equalise and you wouldn't be surprised if Allerdyce keeps the Baggies in the Premier League. Manchester City benefitted the most at the higher end of the table. An assured performance against Newcastle United saw them gain some points on their rivals at the top. Raheem Sterling was the standout and is quietly single-handedly pulling Manchester City back to the top.
Aston Villa to beat Chelsea Seriously. This is a game that could put you above your closest rival. Villa have been amazing to watch this year. The zest of Jack Grealish, the firepower of Ollie Watkins and countless clean sheets from Emiliano Martinez have changed their fortunes. Chelsea on the other hand are under scrutiny. If Frank Lampard doesn't start performing after splashing the cash, then don't be surprised if he is the next manager axed. There's pressure on Chelsea but no expectation on Villa so don't be surprised if they win.
Burnley to beat Sheffield United Burnley looks like a team in transition. Since Ashley Barnes has returned from injury, he and Chris Wood look thirsty for goals. Sean Dyche has established himself as a top Premier League manager and will do everything in his power to stay up this season. Nonetheless, Sheffield United are destined for the Championship next season. Yet to pick up a win they are the whipping boys of the Premier League this season. Burnley to get all three points here! Manchester United to beat Wolves Manchester United are in form going into this game and Wolves haven't been great on the road. Bruno Fernandes will look to continue his goal and assist ratio. Don't be surprised if he plays between the lines and helps himself to a goal or two. Manchester United win.
